Plush Team Contest Entry - Favorite Childhood Toy Plushie - Easy Bake Oven

Crochet Easy-Bake Oven Plushie

The Plush Team currently has a project going on where we need to create a plush inspired by our favorite Childhood toy. This is my creation for the project - a plush design inspired by my Easy-Bake oven. It was really hard for me to choose one favorite toy....there were just so many great toys in the 80's! But then I remembered how much fun it was to eat overcooked brownies and undercooked cakes.....so I just had to make an easy-bake oven! The entire thing is crochet except for some of the detail on the front where I hand-sewed pieces of felt together and hand embroidered the numbers. I even made little plush cakes with removable pans, and constructed the plush so that they can travel right through....just like the real thing!

Bonus Fact - Why did I embroider the time on the plush as 2:56? Well, when I was little, anything over the number 10 was 256, so I figured I'd incorporate that in.

I had a lot of fun taking a trip down memory lane while making this plushie. Here's a picture of me playing with my Easy-Bake Oven As a wee kiddo:

This Weeks Weather Forcast - Yummy Pancake

The last couple of weeks, it seemed like Yummy Pancake was taking the internet by storm....well, a few blogs anyways ^_^
First off, Plush You featured my crochet wedding cake in a wedding themed post, and also posted another little blurb about my designs too.

Then, Cuteable featured Ms. Stitch and Ted the Thread both as a cuteable find and in the weekly roundup.
Finally, Craft Magazine featured an entry about my designs in their blog.

Woohoo! and I'm also excited as plaidvalentine has been workng on a logo design for me as well as a few other things, so Yummy Pancake is about to get an uber awesome new look...stay tuned ^_^

Something Minty

I was so happy last week when I saw that Mint Conspiracy's etsy shop was open once again! The Somethings are so darn cute, and one of these days, I'm going to get myself a Petunia....when I can decide which color I want! Pictured above is my own brood of Somethings - missing from the photo are my Bunneh and Starthing which are busy guarding my desk at work.

Everyone needs a little Something ^_^

I Scream for Ice Cream!

I created this little guy for the Etsy Hookers Team Challenge #2. Our entry had to contain at least 5 colors from the rainbow. Being that it's summer and I have been eating ice cream like it's going out of style, I decided to whip up a 6 scoop happy happy ice cream cone, with each scoop a different color of the rainbow.

You can check out some of the other entries for the challenge at the etsy hooker blog ^_^
On a side note, the Happy Happy Ice Cream Cone was one of my fisrt original crochet designs, so it holds a special place in my heart....and tummy!

Art-O-Mat and other Eggy Toy Goodness

Well, I have been on vacation for the past week, and while I was away, I really didn't have a chance to work on anything new...sorry. But, I have to say, that I hit the eggy toy jackpot on my trip back to the homeland to visit the family...aka Erie, PA.

I found some fun eggy toy machines at various places - At Hoss's when my Grandma took me out to lunch, at Buffalo Wild Wings when we went to dinner with both my fam and my hubby's fam, I didn't find any at the casino, but I did find machines that would take my money and let me play fun games, but the best find was when my Mom and I went to the Erie Art Museum. I read about the Art-O-Mat awhile back and found that there was one in Erie, so I made sure I went to the museum to check it out.

What is an Art-O-Mat you ask? In short, it is a old cigarette machine that dispenses art. Check out the site for more info, to see picture, and to see where the nearest one is. As you can see in the picture below, I got 3 fun things from the art-o-mat:

1. An Art Bar from Pleasant Hill Pottery
2. 2 cute illustrated clips from jamespoulos@mac.com
3. A Beaded Copper web by Klop - it was made with recycled copper electrical wiring and found beads

It seriously is the coolest thing ever! As an added bonus, the museum also has a little machine that vended 1 inch pinback buttons with various art on them - As you can see in the pic, i got 5 ^_^

Your homework is to find the nearest Art-O-Mat and get yourself an awesome piece of art. We all need some art in our lives ^_^

Scree!

Honestly, I have no idea how and why I come up with some of the things that I do. Case in point, the Uber Creepy Breakfast Monster. A round eggy head with yolky eyes, a nice thick texas toast body, stuby little sausage link arms and wiggly bacon legs.

nuff said ^_^
